Privacy
Scouter is a desktop app for trading-card sellers. This page covers the hosted sign-in service only.
What stays on your PC
Your card inventory, costs, scan photos, Whatnot sales, and camera recognition stay in the Scouter folder on your computer. This service does not receive them.
What this service stores
- Your email address and a hash of your password, so you can sign in from the desktop app.
- Your eBay user id and username, and the OAuth tokens eBay issues when you press Agree. Tokens are encrypted at rest. The eBay application secret never leaves this server and is never sent to the desktop app.
Those tokens are used only to list your own cards on eBay and to ask eBay for listing and price data on your behalf. A short-lived access token is sent to your signed-in copy of Scouter so it can call eBay. The refresh token stays here.
Account deletion
If you close your eBay account, or ask eBay to delete your data, eBay notifies this service. We then delete the Scouter account linked to that eBay user, including the email, password hash, sessions, and eBay tokens. Disconnecting inside Scouter removes the eBay tokens and keeps the email account.
